Summer Rewind Friends, can you believe its already the end of summer? It flew by so fast. The semester did not allow for any settling in; I have been up and running since Day 1. Regardless, although I really miss summer, I am pretty happy with the start of the new semester (Keep an eye out for a future blog titled New Year, New Me). Do yall remember the blog I wrote last spring about how you can spend your summer? There are a million different things you can do with your summer, and I am very happy to say that I was able to knock off lots of things on that list. This blog is going to be about what I did this summer. Although not all of it was spectacular, I can definitely say this summer was not short on adventures. Europe Summer started off the best way possibleâ€"a trip to Europe with 4 of my best friends. We had planned to go on a friends trip during spring break, but because of research travel, I was not able to make it. The trip was suspended until after finals and honestly, I think that was the best decision we made. We flew out the day after finals. Our first stop was London! This was my first time in Europe, so your girl was hyped! We hit all the main attractions: Big Ben, the London Eye, and Buckingham Palace. Our time in London was limited to 7 hours before we had to catch a train to Paris, stop #2. MY BEAUTIFUL BEST FRIENDS AND I IN LONDON 3 Have any of you traveled on the high speed trains around Europe? They are so cool! We took the EuroStar from London to Paris. The EuroStar is super cool because the train travels underground through the English Channel. In reality, it was pitch black when we were in them, but it was still cool knowing we were under water. Once in Paris, we all fell asleep. It had been a day since we had all slept back in America, it was time for lights out. The next day, we walked over 10 miles! Sadly, a week before our trip, Notre Dame had its huge fire, so the closest we were able to get was a park across the street. Regardless, Paris was still very beautiful. We were able to hit all the spots we wanted: The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Catacombs, and Versai. Our last stop was Amsterdam! True love in the most romantic city in the world Amsterdam was by far my favorite. The people were super friendly, the fries rocked, but most importantly, the city was a dream. I could 100% live there. Everyone bikes everywhere, there are waffle stands all over the place, its super vegan-friendly (yes, Im veganâ€"Go Plants!), and theyre known for their tulip gardens. We walked an average of 10 miles each day, and though it was super tiring, it was so worth it. Feelin dutch! Calculus Tears Europe was a dream with my best friends, but it wasnt long before the reality of summer hit. Once I got back to Chicago, I needed to find a job ASAP. Luckily, I was hired as a barista and learned some really cool things about the coffee craft. Since math is not my best subject, I wanted to take the class over the summer at a community college so that I could devote all of my time to it. Needless to say, calculus is super hard! I got through the class and learned some stuff about derivatives, but I am really happy biology only requires you to take Calculus 1. The classes lasted 8 weeks, and to celebrate the end, I took another trip Happy Times in Canada Alright, if it is not apparent, I love traveling! Anytime I get the opportunity to go away, I always take it. Look out for a blog on how you can travel as a student with a tight budget. Anyways, Canada is awesome! My best friend and I road-tripped to the Quebec region and stopped in Ottawa, Quebec City, and Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier. I had never been that far east in Canada. The cities were amazing, but the national park was by far my favorite part. Scroll down for some pictures I took along the trip! It feels like I just moved into Weston Hall, but in reality, that was 3 years ago. Time flies, friends, and it really hits you in the face once youre a senior. This year, I want to really focus on making my posts as helpful as I can for you all. This again reduces costs to the bank. Fee income motive Securitisation also provides the opportunity for banks to make a continuous fee income. Because banks benefit from a comparative advantage in originating and providing loans, it is possible for them to create loans with the intention of securitising them for a profitable income stream. It is the integrated service of providing a loan that the bank charges for and makes money from. These charges include general admin costs, monitoring costs and search costs to name a few. It is these aspects of loan creation that the banks carry a comparative advantage so can confidently provide loans at the most competitive rate with the intention of securitising. Rosa Parks Essay College Rosa Parks Rosa parks was born on February 4,1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was a civil rights leader. She attended Alabama State College, worked as a seamstress and as a housekeeper. Her father, James McCauley, was a carpenter, and her mother, Leona (Edwards) McCauley was a teacher. Rosa P. had one younger brother named, Sylvester. Her family lived in Tuskegee. When Rosa was two years-old her parents split up and she, her mother, and her brother moved to her grandparents farm in Nearby Pine Level, Alabama. Her grandparents were one of the few black families who owned their own land, rather than work for someone else. Although they were poor, they were able to raise enough food for all. During the first half of this century for all blacks living in America skin color affected every part of their lives. The South in particular was very racist. Slavery had been abolished only by some fifty years earlier, and blacks were still hated and were feared by whites because of skin color. Jim Crow had a law separate but equal. The Supreme Court ruled in 1896, that equal protection could not mean separate but equal facilities. Blacks were made to feel inferior to whites in every way. They were restricted in their choices of housing and jobs, were forced to attend segregated schools, and were prohibited from using many restaurants, movie theaters. Rosa Parks said, years later, Whites would accuse you of causing trouble when all of you were doing was acting like a normal human being, instead of crining. You didnt have to wait for a lynching. You died each time you found yourself face to face with this kind of discrimination. Rosa Parks didnt like attending a poor, one-room school, with few books or supplies, not being able to stop on her way home from school to get a soda or a candybar. She hated how they were parts for blacks like restaurants, trains, and bus and even being forced to give up her seat for a white person. Rosas mother, Leona McCauley, worked as a teacher, an d the whole family knew the value of education. Rosa attended the local black elementary school, where her mother was the only teacher. When she graduated, the family worked hard to save enough money to send her to a private school for black girls. At the age of 11 she began to attend Montgomery Industrial School for Girls. At the age of 13, she started a Booker T. Washington Junior High, a black public school in Montgomery. When she graduated, two years later no public high schools in Montgomery were open to black students, who were then forced to abandon their education. The McCauley family was determined that Rosa would succeed, and they worked together to raise enough money to send her to Alabama State College to finish her high school classes. When Rosa was close to graduating, though , the family fell on hard times and could no longer afford schools, etc. Her grandfather had died a few years earlier, and her grandmother became ill. Rosa decided to leave school for a while to h elp take care for her and to help out on the family farm. Her grandmother died soon after, and then her mother also became ill. Rosa was forced to abandon her classes for good. In 1931, Rosa met and fell in love with Raymond Parks, a barber who was active in civil rights causes. They were married in 1932 and settled in Montgomery. Raymond Parks encouraged Rosa to finish her education, and she received her high school diploma from Alabama State College in 1933. After her marriage, Rosa Parks worked at several different jobs, as an insurance saleswoman and as a seamstress, doing alterrations either in a shop or in peoples homes. Through the Depression, both Parks and her husband were fortunate to be able to find regular work. Leaders in the black community planned the strategy to challenge parks arrest, because she sat in a white seat in a bus. To protest the unfair treatment and to show their strengh, they decided to stage a one- day boycott of the citys buses on the coming Monday. A s Nixon said, The only way to make the power structure do away with segregation is to take some money out of their pockets, and considering that 70 percent or more of the Montgomery bus riders were black, they were in position to do just that. Ministers of black churches were soon involved in the planning, including Rev. Ralph Abernathy and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom became leaders in the civil rights movement. King, then young and virtually unknown, was asked to lead the boycott, which soon brought him to the forefront of national attention. Within a few months bus segregation was ruled unconstitutional, and the buses were officially desegregated in December 1956. Rosa who had lost her job because of the boycott, moved to Detroit, Michigan, the following year, and again took in sewing. She also worked as a fundraiser for the NAACP. In 1965 she was hired by Congressman John Conyers, Jr., also a cvil rights leader, to manage Detroit office. She remained active in the NAACP and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Looking for educational programs for children and health care in the city of Pinole was difficult. It saddens me that I was not able to find not one health care center that wasn’t private. The recreation center at Fernandez Park was the only reasonable priced program for children. I signed my daughter up for the after school program. The only thing that was missing within their program was tutoring. My next journey is to find a program that offers both tutoring and structured recreation.

Students had their second week on campus after spring break so that meant a lot of tests to be taken. However, most people in East Tennessee cared more about the activities of the Vols Athletic Department. The week started with a look at the known - - namely the Coach Phillip Fulmer led Football Volunteers starting their second week of spring practice. The Vols completed their first week of Spring Practice with a scrimmage on March 31st after learning of a knee injury to offensive tackle Michael Munoz. Coach Fulmer and his staff were not going to let that slow down their practice schedule. On Tuesday, the team continued their workouts at Neyland Stadium in a light rain with lots of rotation on the offensive line. Coach Fulmer said on Thursday that he has been pleased with the progress of the offensive linemen and hopes to develop enough talent this spring and summer to have lots of depth on the line. Be assured that Coach Fulmer and his entire staff are looking forward to the Orange and White Game on April 21st and to welcoming the latest recruiting class to Knoxville this summer. Coach Peterson comes to Knoxville after a season at Tulsa where he led his team to the National Invitational Tournament championship. Prior to his stint at Tulsa, he was head coach of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. But what most people recall about Coach Peterson is that he was Michael Jordan’s roommate when they played for Dean Smith at the University of North Carolina, winning the NCAA Championship in 1982. Coach Peterson brings a lot of excitement and energy to the Volunteers. The players seemed enthusiastic after their first meeting with Coach Peterson. Jenis Grindstaff said that having the coaching decision finalized will allow the team to focus on the next season and really likes the enthusiasm that Coach Peterson brings. Forward Ron Slay said that Peterson has already challenged him to a game of pool.
